If you want to dry your hair faster, using a hairdryer is inevitable. However, it causes damage to your hair. Also, it will take you longer to style your hair with a hair dryer if you’re not a professional hair stylist.
So, I suggest here that you should try different hair drying methods because it’s possible to dry your hair without a hair dryer faster.
How to dry your hair without a blow dryer?
If you want to learn a few ways to dry your hair without a hair dryer fast, I will share with you a few trusted methods I use myself. It’s how I protect my hair and save time. I’ll also share a few tips on how to dry your hair with a dryer without causing damage.
Use a hair conditioner or oil for the ends
While you’re showering, use a conditioner. It’s designed to help you grow a healthy hair but also to repel water. Almost every conditioner has coatings that stay on your hair in order to help the water stay away instead of being soaked. If you’re dealing with curly hair, I suggest you apply a conditioner while showering and leave it to soak in.
This will help you fight frizz when drying your hair naturally. And if you have fine hair, use oil on the dry ends. It’ll help you get silky hair with more volume and provides easy drying.
Remove all the water before getting out of the shower
Instead of waiting to dry your hair when you get out of the shower, simplify the drying process while you’re still in the shower, but finished with showering. Make sure you get all the water removed from your hair before getting out of the shower. And be gentle while doing it.
Squeeze as much water as you can before you get out using your fingers. Pass through the strands with your fingers and keep them separate. This will help you dry your hair faster without a dryer. Tie your hair with a clamp to decrease the water.
Flip your hair upside-down
Once you finish showering, flip your hair upside-down for a couple of minutes. After, lift the roots with your fingers in order to dry your hair faster. This process will help airflow inside your hair and help it dry faster. It will keep the strands separate and they will also dry faster after sticking back together. And you will save some time.
Use a towel to remove all the extra water
One of the ways you can naturally dry your hair without a hair dryer and make it fast is with a towel. It will squeeze all the extra water. Use it after showering. However, make sure it’s a microfiber towel. Or you can buy another towel that’s specifically designed to absorb water.
If you use a regular towel, it might cause breakage and turn your hair frizzy. That’s why it’s best to use a microfiber or some different hair towel to remove all the extra water and dry your hair in just minutes.
After a few minutes, when you’re completely sure that there’s no more water left to squeeze, release it and go over your hair with it. Blot a few times to speed up the drying. Don’t use the weakest part of the towel but use a different part of it each time you move to a new part of your hair.

It will keep the hair parts you went over dry and you’ll prevent from placing water into your hair again. I don’t suggest you rub your hair with the microfiber too hard because it’s specifically designed for soaking water and drying hair. Otherwise, you might cause damage to your hair. No matter if it’s a microfiber soft towel, it can still cause damage.
Instead of using a towel, you can also use a pillowcase or soft cotton clothing. Cotton also absorbs water and will protect your hair the same way microfiber towel does. You can also give paper towels a try. However, if you have thick or long hair, you might need to use more than just 2 or 3 to dry it. However, it’s helpful if you want to reduce frizz.
Microfiber Hair Towel For Fast and Safe Drying
If you’re looking for the perfect microfiber hair towel that will make sure your hair dries safe and fast, this is the perfect choice for you. It doesn’t matter if you have a short, long, wavy, curly or straight hair, because this towel fits any hairstyle. It will save you time on drying while you apply moisturizer oils and makeup.
It dries faster than a regular cotton towel and it’s compact. Meaning, you can carry it around. It’s a dye bleed-free. Meaning, it won’t ruin your clothes in the machine while washing. It’s also odor-free because it’s made out of antibacterial-like material. It’s hypoallergenic and makes the perfect gift for your mother, sister, friend, spouse or your girlfriend.
How to make your hair dry faster
Don’t neglect the roots
Most people don’t pay enough attention to the roots when it comes to drying because they don’t believe it’s necessary. If you focus more on the roots of your hair instead of trying to dry the ends first, you will speed up the drying process. Make sure you take as much water as you possibly can from the roots and focus on the ends later.
I suggest you gently pass over the roots with your microfiber or cotton towel. Or use a smaller one, so you can approach the roots closer if you can’t do it with the large towel. After, fluff them for some time and turn your hair upside-down. Pass through your hair with your finger. Provide as much airflow as possible to the roots to dry your hair fast.
Buy a quality wide-tooth comb and use it for fast drying
Perhaps you wonder how can you dry your hair faster with a wide-tooth comb. Well, as you can notice, the previous methods included providing airflow to your hair. And with a wide-tooth comb, you can do it a lot easier. According to hair experts, you should never use a comb or a brush while your hair is still wet. It will tear down your hair and leave you with a messy hairstyle.
Instead, apply my previous tips and get your hair dry. After you can use a wide-tooth comb to finish the process and walk with perfect hair. It will help you keep frizz in order and provide protection that could have been done to your hair if you used a different type of brush or comb. After using a wide-tooth comb, use your fingers to keep your hair strands separated.
You can also shake your hair again in order to provide even more airflow. As you can see, airflow is crucial when it comes to drying hair without a hair dryer that will definitely damage it. You can also add a hair care product before/after you brush your hair. It can help you style your hair without making it wet again. Choose between a sea-salt spray or an anti-frizz serum.

How to dry your hair with a blow dryer right?
If you don’t have time for leaving your hair dry naturally, you can use the tips I shared, plus a hairdryer. But in order to protect your hair and do it right, apply these few tips.
- Prepare the right tools. First, you need to pick the right hair dryer that’s 1,800 watts at least and has different air and heat settings. This type of hair dryer will help you give your hair shape and lower the damage to your hair from the high heat setting.
- After, don’t forget to use the nozzle. It will help you dry your hair faster and give you a smooth look. After, get the proper brush. I suggest a wide-tooth comb because it helps the hair dry fast. Also, get a hair clip in order to keep the strands separate and easy to style.
- Pick the right hair products. If you want to add thickness to your hair, the mousse is the right product for you. If you want to soften damaged or dry hair and make it smooth, cream makes a perfect product you can use before or after styling. And if you want to set and lift your hair, use a hairspray after drying.
- Selection and ready. After you wrap your hair in a towel, set your hair dryer on high or medium speed. Blow it until it’s around 80% dry. After, secure the top section of your hair with a clip and start with drying the ends, using your comb. Second, dry the top layers. Move toward the ends once you’re done with the top section using your brush again. Finally, give your ends shape. You’re ready to go.
Common mistakes you’re making when drying your hair
We all make mistakes while drying our hair with or without a dryer. However, I’ll share a few tips on how to avoid the most common ones and prevent your hair from damaging.
We use the wrong type of brush
You should always pay attention to the brush you’re using. It’s not just using any brush when it comes do drying hair but the right one for your type of hair. Most hair stylists recommend a round brush in order to get that bouncy, voluminous look. However, you should also pay attention to the material.
If you have straight hair but want to make it wavy, ceramics make a perfect choice. However, if you have frizzy thick hair and it lacks smoothness, boar bristle is the right choice for you. And if you’re looking for a brush that will help you dry your hair faster, get the one with ceramic-coated barrels.
We ignore the concentrator nozzle attachment
I don’t know about you, but this is a mistake I make every single day. I always ignore the nozzle because I thought that the dryer will dry my hair faster without it. But I was wrong because I just found out that it’s the nozzle that plays a crucial part in the drying. It points out the air in the right direction and it’s excellent for styling.
It also protects your hair from heat damage. It’s a must-attachment if you want that smooth finish. Without the nozzle, the air will flow in every direction and cause frizzy hair. If you’re used to taking off the nozzle, look for a hair dryer with a built-in thin nozzle.
You also ignore heat protectant spray all over your head
If you use the right hair care product before blowing your hair it will prevent the ends from breakage. It will also make sure that your hairstyle lasts longer. However, to get the best out of your spray heat protectant, you have to make sure that you’re applying it properly. If you have frizzy or thick hair, spray on top of your head. Not all the way around.
Also, make sure you don’t forget the back of your head. Start from the middle toward the ends. Use a comb or your fingers to make sure you’ve applied everywhere.
Macadamia Thermal Protectant Spray
Perhaps you didn’t know, but the best way to protect your hair and help it dry fast is if you use thermal protectant spray before you turn on the dryer. This product will keep your hair damage-free and make sure that you don’t have to deal with split and fried ends no more.
It will prevent frizz, provide shine, and resist humidity. However, one of the most important features is the thermal protection. It provides a protection up to 450F. Just spritz around 8 inches to clean hair and style your lovely hair the usual way.
Keeping the hair in a towel forever
One of the most common mistakes everyone makes is keeping their hair in the towel for too long. It’s best to give around 30 minutes so that the water can soak into the towel completely. As I mentioned before, you can either use a microfiber towel or a cotton towel. And if you have time, leave your hair to dry naturally. It’s the best method ever.
