Growing Out A Pixie Cut Without Trims: Ultimate Guide

Growing Out A Pixie Cut Without Trims: Ultimate Guide

Growing out a pixie cut without trims is possible. However, you will have to follow my steps to do it the right way. I’m currently growing out a pixie cut. And it’s my second one. So, I’m confident that I can help you grow out your pixie without visiting your hairstylist regularly.

All you have to do is condition your hair frequently, take vitamins that boost hair growth and experiment with hairstyles. Using accessories and styling products isn’t an exception.

They will help you get through the weird phase of growing out your pixie. In simpler words, you will have to fake it until you make it. This is the second time I’m growing out a pixie cut without trims. Read on to learn how I do it and how do you gracefully grow out a pixie cut.

How do you gracefully grow out a pixie cut?

First and foremost, you should accept the fact that your hair isn’t going to grow overnight.

You will have to learn how to own your current hairstyle and make the best out of it. Learn some styling tricks and experiment with your hair. For example, wear your bands in a weird way.

Experimenting with short hairstyles is important because if you get bored and sick of your pixie cut, you might chop it again and let your patience and hard work be for nothing.

Give your hair texture

For example, add curls. They’re just perfect for hiding uneven lengths and weird cowlicks.

Natural curls can be difficult to maneuver or maintain. That’s why I use a curling iron and experiment with my short hair in any way possible. I have to warn you that using a curling iron on a short hair can be very difficult and you have to be very careful not to burn your neck and ears.

However, once you create a “hairstyle” that you like and will make you feel less of a mess, you will practice this often. Next, learn how to get over the weird phases.

Start styling your pixie as a bob as soon as you can

I’m currently into the weird phase of growing out my pixie. And it’s driving me crazy. Days like this make me regret my decision of cutting all my hair. However, nothing lasts forever.

And your pixie isn’t an exception. Keep in mind that this struggle that you’re going through will end eventually. However, to initiate the process, start styling your pixie cut like a bob as soon as you can. Once the parts on the side and in the front reach jaw-length, style your pixie cut as you would a short bob.

Add accessories that will distract focus from the parts that you can’t stand. Or buy wigs in your favorite colors until your hair reaches the desired length.

Or wear a hat like I do, sometimes. I also have a green wig that’s acting as a lifesaver. Whenever I have a bad hair day, I simply put my wig on, throw on some lipgloss and raise my hopes that everything is going to be great. Follow my steps during this phase.

The best part about wigs is that they don’t cost much. And you don’t have to style your wig to make it look good. All you have to do is comb it every now and then, wash it once a week, depending on how often you wear it throughout the month and own the situation every day.

Buy wigs, hats, cool hair accessories…

To be honest, I’ve received compliments on my wigs in a month more than I’ve ever done on my hair. Extra tip: let’s suppose that you’ve successfully grown out your pixie and you feel content that you finally reached a wanted length that allows more creative styling options.

Remember this whenever you feel the urge to cut off your hair again. Often, both men and women experiment with their hairstyle when they’re going through something bad in life or when they’re ready for a change. I can tell from experience that every time I was tempted to cut my hair off or change hair color, I was dealing with mental issues in the background.

My honest advice is: buy a wig. Or change the color instead of going for a pixie cut. Find a new way to deal with your personal issues and don’t take it out on your hair every time that you’re facing a problem. Or a bad day, a bad week, a bad month. Or a year, maybe, like me.

Stay kind and patient

Nothing good happens overnight. In order to successfully grow out your pixie cut, embrace the change and stay patient. If your hair grows slowly, learn how to own your current hair situation and apply the tips I’ve shared with you so far.

If your hair grows faster than the hair of others, start styling it as a bob as soon as you can, condition your hair on a regular basis and experiment (add accessories, change colors, wear wigs and bangs in weird ways).

However, if you want your hair to grow fast, you should take care of your nutrition as well. Eat a high-protein diet and research products that can help you grow your hair faster like hair vitamins that will not only take good care of your hair but nails as well.

They promote hair and nails growth. If you have weak nails and hair which break like mine, you know how important having a 2 in 1 super product that will take care of both in the long run really is.

How long does it take for a pixie to grow?

In my experience, growing out a pixie cut can take between 6 months and 1 year. However, it all depends on how fast your hair grows. And the current length of your hair. According to my research, some people have grown out their pixie cut into a jaw-length short bob for less than 1 year.

However, for some, it took a bit longer (a year and a half). It took me one year to grow my pixie the first time. It’s been 8 months since my second “transformation” and my hair has almost reached jaw length. As you can notice, it’s different for everyone.

How do you keep short hair out of your face?

I don’t know about you but I can’t stand when my short hair gets in my face while working, working out or just doing normal stuff during the day. I often use hair clips or headband to hold it back. However, you might also use gel or cream to keep short hair out of your face.

Gel: Spray your short hair with water and apply a small amount of gel on your hands. Rub your hands together and run them through your hair. Begin at the top and work your way through.

Use a medium-tooth comb to brush your short hair and make sure it stays in place throughout the day or night. This classy hairstyle will give you that elegant nice look. However, most importantly, it will keep your hair out of your face.

Cream: If you want to create a wilder, punk look and keep your hair out of your face at the same time, spike your short hair with hair cream. Squeeze a small amount of cream into your hands.

Run them through your hair and focus on the ends. Pull them gently. If you do this the right way, they will stick straight up and give you an edgy, chic style. This is the ideal hairstyle for concerts, fun date nights or club parties.

Bobby pins or clips: As I mentioned before, this is one of my favorite ways to keep hair out of my face, especially while working or going to the gym. Pin your hair back with bobby pins or hair clips. This is the perfect everyday hairstyle for work, home or going out. Just secure the critical sections that you hate and you’re ready to go.

If you want to add volume to your hair, tease it as you pin it. If you’re not into this “hairstyle”, you can simply pin back your bands instead of the entire hair and get a part of your hair out of your face. No matter what hairstyle you choose, make sure that you feel good about your choice because if you feel good, you will look great.

Final verdict

Now that you’ve learned everything you need to know about growing out a pixie cut without trims, apply the tips and stay patient. Growing out a pixie cut can be frustrating at times.

However, if you embrace your hair length, take good care of it, and learn how to enjoy this hairstyle, I’m sure that you will not even notice when your hair has passed the weird stage.
